Vanessa: I had the opportunity to Co-Chair MPI’s ’94 annual in Minneapolis and having lived the MPI annuals for years (I first joined MPI in ’88), I have always enjoyed connecting and reconnecting with friends and acquaintances. Even the trade show was something that I used effectively to find those that I needed when business discussions needed to be had. I look forward to the “reverse” marketplace format. It’s definitely what MPI needs to re-engage those that had fallen out of the normal flow based on a format that some found unappealing. I’m anxious to get to Orlando to learn, share and meet new contacts that will greatly increase my effectiveness. See you there

Vanessa: One of the cool things to remember as your “head spins” because you can’t attend all the sessions is that we’ve integrated into the event design what we’re calling “Daily Downloads”. This is a general place for everyone to gather and swap notes, share ideas, findings, vote on programs they want to be repeated the next day in a few of the (intentionally left) open spots in the program. It’s also a great time for some peer-to-peer learning.

That’s right – MPI CLC 2009 (now called Chapter Business Summit to be held in September) you spoke on Social Media. I’m hoping to get back to Smart Brief Insights now that my guest blogging for Engage365 is over. My final Guru blog will be posted on their site on Monday I believe.

This is a great recap of the presentation. The “point of concentration” is a gem worth remembering. Letting go of things is always hard to do, especially as meeting professionals who are concered with the details and logistics!
